Position Summary
The Bridgestone Americas Law Department seeks two Corporate Real Estate attorneys for its North American Business Units (NABU) group. These will be a Senior Counsel positions in the Company’s Management A Band. Compensati on will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
NABU consists of five different business units: Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC. (BATO); Consumer Tire; BATO Commercial Tire; Firestone Building Products; Firestone Industrial Products and Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC.
These two positions will have significant responsibilities around real estate issues related to our retail operations and its approximately 2,230 stores as well as additional real estate responsibilities across all NABU operations. These responsibilities will include: greenfield projects involving retail, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution; lease negotiations and existing portfolio support; new store development responsibilities; real estate litigation; mergers and acquisitions; condemnation proceedings and ADA-driven building accommodation matters.
These positions present significant opportunity for growth in different areas of corporate prac tice both within real estate and outside of real estate. Attorneys in these positions will work closely with other practice area attorneys and paralegals in the Law Department, including attorneys and paralegals engaging in business/transactional law, labor & employment, compliance, litigation, client services and intellectual property. These positions will report to the Vice President, General Counsel, North American Business Units.
Responsibilities
Negotiation and drafting of complex real estate documents for new store development without oversight
Drafting and negotiating purchase and sale contracts, acquisition agreements, ground leases, retail leases, industrial leases, build-to-suit leases and construction contracts
Handling the legal aspects of existing real estate operational matters
Independently reviewing title and survey, draft closing documents, coordinate closings with the title company and close real estate acquisitions
Qualificatio ns
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Minimum of five years of law firm or in-house counsel experience is preferred.
Hands-on real estate transactional and business support experience as well as excellent academic credentials.
Expertise in retail real estate work â€" multiple locations, similar footprint in multiple states is preferred.
