Legal Specialist

Under the direction of the NSSCâs Legal Counsel, paralegal plans, organizes and supervises the legal activities of the Nashville Shared Services Center and provides legal support for the NSSC! âs Legal Counsel and all Operations Management.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Consults with NSSCâs Legal Counsel to coordinate and implement policies and procedures, special projects, track and trends of results.
- Assist NSSCâs Legal Counsel in reviewing contracts and drafting demand letters for the NSSC and its assigned facilities.
- Assist in providing legal direction for all procedures within the NSSC.
- Oversees the hospital lien process for court recording and satisfaction.
- Manage auto/tort unit representatives to ensure proper adherence to Tennessee law and the NSSCâs policies and procedures for handling auto/tort claims.
- Assist NSSCâs Legal Counsel on special projects related to repricers, silent PPOs and other third-party issues, as well as Workerâs Compensation issues.
- Assist with consolidation of claims and gathering and preparation of information relative to insura! nce carriers in receivership, judicial liquidation or bankrupt! cy.
- Assist NSSCâs Legal Counsel with preparation of training materials and conduct of legal training for all NSSC staff on relevant legal issues.
- Assist NSSCâs Legal Counsel with all patient complaints escalated to the Legal Department for possible risk management review.
- Acts as a team player, accepting job responsibilities willingly.
- Adheres to all PAS policies relating to compliance and confidentiality.
- Attends department meetings and provides insight on legal issues.
- Demonstrates current knowledge of legal issues and federal regulations related to financial operations.
- Conducts legal research under the direction of the NSSCâs Legal Counsel.
- Follow-up on General Execution Docket for hospital liens and judgment liens obtained by agency attorneys.
- Practice and adhere to the âCode of Conductâ philosophy and âMission and Value Statement.â
- Other duties, as assigned. ! ul> Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Professional presentation skills needed to represent facilities in legal issues.
- Work effective with other employees, senior management, and external parties.
EXPERIENCE: At least three years of experience in healthcare, with management/supervisory experience. Clinical experience preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Certified Paralegal, preferred.
