Director, Artist Relations

ChildFund International is seeking a Director to oversee Artist relationships for the purpose of furthering ChildFund’s mission within the music and event industry. The Director takes the lead on cultivating and managing artist relationships in order to execute a campaign of strategies used for acquiring child sponsors, monthly donors and single gift donors through events involving artists, speakers, conferences and other mass marketing vehicles. The Director will manage an acquisition budget in the pursuit of child sponsors and other donors. S/he will lead a team to develop and maintain relationships with leaders in various targeted markets, including the Country music industry, the Christian music industry, churches and independent artists.
The Director will manage contract negotiations with Artists, manager and lawyers and respond to performance issues. S/he will develop and implement plans for Artists and speakers to perform at events through tours, events at churches, festivals and conferences and other venues. The Director will lead development of event materials such as videos and slideshows and assist Artists and speakers in refining presentation.
The Director will hire, cultivate and coach a staff that understands the music industry and other potential areas or methods of child sponsor acquisition. S/he will lead the team to research, negotiate and place appropriate promotions to maximize attendance and response at events.

Required Skills
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in marketing, business, public relations or communications or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing leadership roles with 5 years of experience concentrated in sales, promotions, contract negotiations and relationship management
Strong relationships in the music industry
Supervisory experience
Ability to travel (domestically and internationally)
Child sponsor acquisition experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Second language preferred
Cross-cultural experience desired
Integrity and strong sense of professional ethics
Comfortable both leading and serving on a team
Advanced computer skills, especially in the use of Microsoft's Office suite of products
Ability to prepare income/expense forecasts and reports and manage the department's budget
Excellent project management skills
