Under general supervision, to perform a variety of duties associated with juvenile casework services to monitor youth placed under court ord! ered conditions as an alternative to community removal. The probation services involve completing predispositional investigations, presenting recommendations to the court, confirming compliance with the court order, counseling and crisis intervention, referrals to community agencies, A&D screening, and report writing.
Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.)

Tasks:
Supervises and oversees a caseload of youth referred to and/or deferred from the Juvenile Court; compiles information, conducts interviews, and develops comprehensive reports identifying elements of the charge, family and personal history, education, work experience, impact on victims and other information; ide! ntifies and recommends viable sentencing alternatives; identif! ies, recommends and presents alternatives for consideration; meets with youth and/or other affected parties; appears and testifies in court. Will assist in supervising public service hours which may require occasional Saturday work.
Maintains, updates and manages files, records and other paperwork associated with individual files and the entire caseload; develops, updates and maintains statistical and related records and reports; visits with referral on a scheduled and unscheduled basis; assess compliance with court or administratively-ordered alternatives to incarceration; identifies and proposes modifications to set parameters as appropriate; prepares and submits court documents, forms and other items necessary for court records and information. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable State of Tennessee statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rul! es and requirements.
Knowledge of Hamilton County Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of case management and supervision.
Knowledge of the basic principles of record keeping, case and records management.
Knowledge of legal terminology and court processes and procedures.
Knowledge of community resources and services.
Skill in reading, understanding, interpreting and applying Tennessee statues, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rules and requirements and Hamilton County Policies and Procedures
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with court employees, and the public.
Skill in conducting interviews, gathering data and developing and presenting a variety of psychological and other reports.
Skill in communicating orally and producing written documents and written reports for public dissemination.
Skill in operating a personal com! puter utilizing a variety of software applications.
Skill in analyz! ing and making sound recommendations for solutions.
Skill effectively communicating in both oral and written form.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree with prior internship at Hamilton County Juvenile Court preferred. Will accept applications with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and previous case management, social work, law enforcement or related duties involving at risk, troubled youth.

Physical Requirements: Work involves the potential for physical harm in dealing with defendants and potential exposure to infectious diseases.
