Position Summary:

In this role, you are accountable for providing HR support to all salaried, hourly employees and site leadership through effective communication and administration across all facility functions. Under the direction of the HR Director, the HR Generalist manages recruitment and participates in employee development, labor relations, policy interpretation, compensation administration, legal compliance, and any HR-related ad-hoc projects.


Primary Responsibilities:

Execute HR Strategy:

  • Aid in the execution of the JMM People Strategy processes that attract, develop, recognize, and retain employees to support the organization's short- and long-term strategic business needs.
  • Support JMM initiatives such as the JMM Management and Leadership Principles while executing workforce planning processes for the organization, such as talent development, organizational planning, and organizational change management.
  • Ensure the culture & working environment is open, empowering, fair, and equitable.

Recruitment:

  • Oversee salaried and hourly staffing processes to ensure the site staffing plan is and the right talent is selected to align with business requirements relative to the key function on-site.

Performance & Talent Management:

  • Utilize the performance, talent, and organizational planning management systems to help drive the achievement of company goals through objective and development plan setting, performance calibration, and talent development.
  • Lead the critical interface on all tools available to improve individual and team performance at all levels.

Employee / Labor Relations:

  • Establish and maintain effective “win–win” working relationships with (and between) managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Build and maintain relations with employees at the warehouse site to promote and foster an environment of open communication and transparent feedback.
  • Conduct investigations, provide coaching, and document findings, when required.

Compliance:

  • Supporting a holistic safety focus by driving people-related safety goals and business initiatives
  • Ensure all EEO compliance and Affirmative Action programs/plans are successfully implemented.

Requirements:

· A Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in Human Resource Management or related field (e.g., Business, Organizational Communication, Industrial Psychology) is required.

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional level Human Resources role.
  • Manufacturing Plant, Distribution Center, Sales, or Direct Sales Distribution (DSD) environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, Investigation Skills, HR technical knowledge in EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, unemployment, and worker’s compensation
  • Willing and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% based on the team’s and the business’s needs.

Preferred Experience:

  • HR change management experience - implementing a change management project within a non-corporate setting (i.e., implementing the new service or benefit concept to employees).
  • Experience in labor-management relations, workplace investigations, and managing mediation, arbitration, and/or grievance processes.
  • Human Resource experience should include familiarity with and experience in recruitment, labor relations, and continuous employee engagement and communications. You will have demonstrable knowledge of applicable HR laws and applications, employee relations/coaching and performance management experience.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access) and an HRIS system (such as PeopleSoft or SAP)
  • Excellent presentation, communication (both oral and written) and social skills
