Overview: The Senior Liability Adjuster, reporting to the Claims Supervisor, investigates, evaluates and concludes all 3rd party liability losses including pr! operty damage and bodily injury exposures based on company handling guidelines with minimal supervision. Must have a thorough understanding of automobile insurance policies and the principles of coverage, liability and negligence.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the investigation, negotiation and resolution of claims in accordance with policy provisions, best practices and legal requirements Take recorded statements, identify potentially fraudulent claims and work with other departments to resolve and negotiate settlements Resolve claim by approving or denying documentation, calculate benefit dues, initiate payment or compose denial letter Ensure legal compliance by following state and federal regulations, company guidelines and policies Maintain spreadsheets and diary system Analyze auto policy claims and ensure accurate coverage determination in relation to claim presented Properly apply existing laws and policy provisions against the facts to arrive at ! an appropriate liability decision Evaluate medical bills and r! eports to determine a fair evaluation of damages or benefits allowed Demonstrate loss containment by making effective use of all settlement enhancement techniques and tools Promptly submit required reports and complete necessary claim file documentation that accurately reflects the claim development Maintain files in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies May assist Claims Supervisor with the following Coverage reviews Adherence to time demand procedures Attendance administration Bodily injury evaluation reviews Material damage assessment Mentor 1st and 3rd Party Adjusters Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred, HS Diploma or equivalent required A minimum of 3-5 general claims experience with an emphasis in handling bodily injury claims Must have or be able to secure and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses Previous claims experience within an automotive insurance environ! ment; non-standard experience is preferred Ideal candidate will have a proven track record of making sound coverage and liability decisions based on the facts presented Experience in handling minor, bodily injury claims is preferred Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively manage time while prioritizing multiple tasks/projects while handling a steady flow of mail, new cases and active caseloads Ability to maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with difficult customers Effective negotiating skills and the ability to negotiate with attorneys and argue relevant medical and accident facts Ability to gather and analyze information in order to evaluate results and choose the best solution to the problem
