Gathers, analyzes and organizes information, legal pleadings, discovery and other documents pertaining to litigation files for Trial Attorneys. Prepares draft pleadings and discovery documents for the trial attorneys' review. Monitors own work in regards to delivery of a finished product. Handles litigation files as directed. Maintains electronic legal research software and law library. Provides direction to other paralegals.
Job Qualifications
Associate Degree Or Equivalent 5+ Years Of Paralegal Experience 1. 5 or more years insurance defense litigation (Liability) experience required. Workers Compensation experience preferred. 2. 5 or more years of recent experience working with State of TN court system. 3. 5 or more years of TN Court E-File experience. 4. PC literate with working knowledge of Windows software and a thorough knowledge of computerized legal research software. 5. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6. Experience in Case management, including: calendaring, discovery, pre-disposition conferences, meetings with experts and clients and pre-trial deadlines; strong diary and discovery management skills and ability to identify discovery issues, investigating and resolving them. 7. Research skills including: knowing different court rules, counties/procedures and rules of civil procedures; using technology; research networking; expert witness bank; use of on-line services including Westlaw; preparing discovery work; responding to discovery; obtaining and summarizing documents; preparing discovery summaries; and preparing motions for discovery/summary judgment. 8. Drafting skills including: meet and confer with counsel regarding discovery; and draft pleading, motions, correspondence, memos, interrogatories for discovery, document summaries (medical records, depos and discovery responses), and re-discovery.
