Employee Relations Specialist

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Description: Genesco - Corporate is presently looking of Employee Relations Specialist right now, this career will be reside in Tennessee. Job Summary: To promote compliance and positive employee relations practices in retail through the guidance of field management. Provide advice and service to line management and field supervisors on HR issues. Assist in developing HR practices and policies. Essential Job Functions: Provide consulting and coaching services on key employment policies and practices to field management. Receive, investigate and respond to employee complaints and interrogatories from employees and from outside parties including the EEOC, State Departments of Labor, State Human Rights Commissions and attorneys. Assist in the resolution of sensitive matters including, but not limited to: discrimination, harassment, coaching and counseling, performance documentation, discipline and discharge. Ensure employee privacy rights are maintained. Assist in communicating compliance and regulatory changes and updates to retail managers and employees. Oversee compliance with State and Federal employment laws. Recommend strategies and assist in the implementation of newly enacted laws. Collaborate with representatives from Loss Prevention, Operations, HR and the field to ensure compliance and to develop and promote positive employee relations practices, policies and procedures. Develop recommendations/strategies to ensure compliance and to enhance positive employee relations processes in the field. Work directly with Store Managers and District Managers to provide consulting and coaching services regarding all aspects of employee relations with the goal of transferring critical ER/HR skills to line managers. Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, or a related field. Two years relevant experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations.Functional/Technical Competencies: Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues. Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent standards to practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of employment law and state specific laws. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
