Business Development Officer

The Business Development Officer (BDO) reports to the President of M&F Business Credit (MFBC) and is responsible for the development of new business within the targeted geographical and industry areas of MFBC by employing the maximum amount of loans (funded debt resources) with a minimal amount of risk and provide a solid return on our investment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Aggressively market MFBC's loan products to acquire new loan business for the company
Establish and maintain a solid network of contacts among various referral sources, including CPA's, attorneys, equity sponsors, investment bankers, other bankers (for potential participations), brokers, consultants... etc
Maintain and update MFBC's pipeline report on a weekly basis and report to MFBC president and staff at the weekly staff meeting
Establish relationships with the various M&F Branches to inform them of Asset Based Lending (ABL) products and seek potential referrals from within the various M&F Bank Branches
Bring in 5 new deals per year, with average new loan funding of between $10MM and $15MM per year
Work with existing clients, when appropriate, for potential referrals
Complete initial screening of potential ABL prospects, using MFBC's summary presentation, which will necessitate basic underwriting of the credit, including collateral analysis, financial analysis and an initial underwriting loan structure of the credit
Be an active member in various ABL organizations (mutually agreed upon by BDO and MFBC President), such as the Commercial Finance Association, the Association of Corporate Growth... etc
Examples of Work:
Travel and market to Bankers, CPA's, Consultants and Commercial Businesses within a several state area looking for Asset Based loans from $1MM to $10MM
Maintain ongoing professional relationship and rapport with clients by making on-site calls to improve understanding of borrower's operations and facilitate the control of borrower accounts
Assist underwriter in structuring, underwriting and presenting the loan package to directors loan committee for approval
Assist portfolio manager with any ongoing relationship issues that may arise with a new or existing customer
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
Financial analysis and modeling, and a strong understanding of business law and secured commercial loan transactions
Knowledge of asset based lending, GAAP, corporate finance, economics, and general trade practices
Must have good financial and credit skills
Must be goal oriented
Must have strong business development skills, a desire to travel and market MFBC products within the targeted market areas
Must be a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines
Must have good time management skills
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have good computer skills including MS Word and Excel, Stucky Loan System, and Internet Browsers
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum 10 years experience in Asset Based Lending
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred and formal credit training is a plus
