Senior Retail Accounts Manager (Senior Underwriter)

The Senior Retail Accounts Manager (SRAM) processes and analyzes credit applications for loans and leases for the acquisition of commercial transportation and construction equipment, as submitted by our customers, dealers and sales team. Customer financing requests are reviewed for accurate and complete information and processed to ensure timely and comprehensive credit review and underwriting with the highest level of customer service and professionalism. Additionally, the SRAM assists in th! e conquest of approved transactions with dealership personnel ! and end users and provides credit training related to review of fleet transactions. The SRAM is part of Volvo Financial Services USA (VFS USA) and reports to a Credit Manager. This position is located in our Greensboro, NC office.

Core Responsibilities:
Manages underwriting process on country, region and executive/global committee transactions with transactions averaging $5M to $10M

Manages and monitors VFSs largest customers and provides updates to Executive Management and other stakeholders

Interacts extensively with Dealers, Customers, and Sales team to negotiate loan and lease structuring, pricing, and collateral analysis requirements for transactions to ensure sound underwriting and risk practices. Interacts with colleagues and management on behalf of Credit

Interacts with Sales and Credit Management to negotiate structures on large transactions resulting in winning new business while minimizing VFSs risk

Builds t! rust and cultivates Dealer, Customer, and co-worker relationships

Interacts with Credit Manager, VP of Credit , Risk Management, Credit Committee. Makes recommendations related to financing requests (i.e. exception requests, self insurance, documentation requirements, promotions, or other non-standard financing requests)

Meets with prospective customers to analyze business operations and conduct extensive credit interviews. Requires ability and willingness to travel

Underwrites transactions and articulates the strengths, weaknesses, and recommendation in verbal and written presentations accordingly

Ensures accurate and complete documentation of credit files and recommends credit lines for current and prospective customers

Selects and negotiates loan, lease and ancillary documentation and documentation process to ensure proper security perfection for retail and wholesale risk type transactions

Reviews UCC-1 related issues! , including proof of ownership, search review and subordination, and ac! tual UCC-1 preparation

Participates in review and negotiation of documentation with the Customer, Credit and Legal Counsel. Initiates proper follow-up as necessary

Assists in the development and implementation of procedures to minimize risk and improve underwriting quality

Reviews transactions from Retail Credit Analysts within authority

Assists/coordinates training and mentoring for Retail Credit Analysts

Identifies and implements process improvements in the credit process

Exemplifies working the Volvo Way and ensures the Code of Conduct is followed

Other duties and projects as assigned

Education and Experience Required:
BA/BS in Finance, Business, or Accounting. MBA preferred

10+ years of experience in loan or lease underwriting required

Proven record of achievement in credit structuring of commercial transactions, proven UCC-1 knowledge, and thorough understanding of Leas! e and Loan Documentation.

Transportation or construction related experience preferred

Solid credit underwriting and analytical experience, including familiarity with personal credit bureau reports, commercial business reports (Dun and Bradstreet, Experian, Paynet, etc.), risk analytic tools (Moodys Risk Analyst), detailed collateral valuation knowledge and other reference sources (bonding, insurance, finance, trade)

Proven ability to analyze financial statements and prepare summaries of key information. Financial statement analysis includes: ratio analysis, common sizing, review of industry norms, trending, and cash flow analysis. Experience interpreting key financial information and assessing potential impact to the borrower is necessary

Relationship management/sales experience preferred- demonstrated ability to identify customer needs, ask the right questions upfront, and communicate the advantage of doing business with an organization !

Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate credit structur! e and documentation with risk

Work experience managing multiple credit submittals accurately and efficiently and at the same time, especially large ticket transactions

Proven ability to create presentation materials for company executives, management, credit committee, attorneys, customers, dealers, and the sales team

Experience analyzing, tracking and providing reporting for industry risks related to the marketplace

Intermediate level in MS Office required. Expert level in Excel and PowerPoint preferred; Microsoft Access skills a plus

Experience in a professional environment where sound business judgment, attention to detail, fast pace and a flexible/adaptable approach are valued as well as the ability to consistently meet business goals and reporting requirements

Proven interpersonal communication skills

Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English; additional languages a plus
