With over 8,000 employees worldwide, The Woodbridge Group® is focused on evolving workplace safety, sustainable environmental stewardship and enduring customer satisfaction, in each of the markets they serve.Role Purpose: To prevent injury and illness, promote a healthy & safe workplace, prevent environmental pollution, and ensure legislative compliance.Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction to drive continual improvement and the achievement of goals as the functional support person for their assigned Business Unit(s) and to provide direct plant support to assigned multiple locations (11-12), in the implementation a! nd management of the Woodbridge HS&E Management System, the id! entification of risk, and the control/prevention of occupational injury, illness, or property loss. Assist their assigned BU(s) and facilities to incorporate changes to the HS&E Management System as they occur.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; therefore avoiding potentially significant monetary penalties, through direct assistance with plant and Corporate personnel in areas such as environmental permitting, industrial hygiene assessments, ergonomic assessments, risk assessments, aspects/impacts analysis, problem analysis/troubleshooting, decision-making, and interpretation of applicable legislation. Lead the resolution of non-compliance issues. Complete and drive HS&E-related cost/benefit analysis on workplace projects/improvements. Participate with the BU leaders and the specific Plant Managers in the establishment of annual strategic goals for their plants.Provide knowledge, direction and assistance to the Business Unit and the management teams in ! their assigned plants in the reduction and elimination of waste, the achievement of BIC 100 goals, the reduction of waste costs, reduction of discharges of contaminants to the environment, and in the reduction of energy consumption and costs from its operations.Be a coach/mentor to the plant management teams charged with responsibility for the management of HS&E within their area of responsibility, including union HSE representatives.

Interact with the unions at the local and national level as required. Conduct quarterly nodal meetings, and attend other related discipline nodal meetings. Attend regular BU Meetings to discuss current performance versus goals, challenges, action plans, and current improvement projects. Provide monthly HSE performance BU updates.Participate as a team member in annual plant internal audits within their region or BU, and jointly with the Plant Manager provide guidance and direction to the plant management team.

Provide implemen! tation assistance where required with regard to non-conformances and co! ntinual improvement activities. Provide direct assistance and support as the HS&E expert on a matrix team and/or committee on plant and corporate projects such as new plant builds/acquisitions, equipment installations, process changes, risk assessments, and TQM strategies.Analyze HS&E-related statistical data and assist the business units and their facilities in developing action plans to address deficiencies, and present these findings in written reports and presentations to management.Participate in the development and implementation of proactive, preventive corporate standards and procedures, the annual review of the Woodbridge HS&E Management System, and the annual Corporate HSE TQM Planning process to support the business objectives of the organization.Conduct HS&E Audits of Woodbridge facilities. Provide follow-up and track progress towards the resolution of open NCR's for Corporate audits when designated as a Lead Auditor. Deliver training to plant and/or Corporate e! mployees as required and time and resources permit.Provide guidance and advice on the management of workers compensation cases to achieve an early and safe RTW and contain/reduce costs.

Attend hearings and court proceedings as an expert resource when challenging worker comp. claims.Interact with external customers/agencies as required or necessary. These may include: direct customer partnerships, government regulators, consultants, lawyers, and industrial/business associations.Qualifications: A degree, diploma, or certification in Occupational HS&E, a professional designation (must have CRSP in Canada, CSP in the US, etc.) and at least 8 - 10 years of progressive experience in Occupational HS&E in a manufacturing environment.This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to influence and persuade, the ability to work within different and varied cultural environments, all levels of management and various unions,Demonstrable knowled! ge of regulations & standards, occupational hygiene, and HS&E principle! s/management systems, computer literacy, working knowledge of processes, chemistry, theoretical modeling of emissions and ergonomic principles.Frequent travel (approx. 90%) The normal plant structure in NA does not include an HSE person; therefore, the expertise in this role is critical to the plants.
