Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for a Senior Counsel at our Franklin, TN North American headquarters location.
Job Functions:Complex Commercial Litigation across the Americas:
- Class Actions * Product (non-PL) * Vendor
- Anti-Trust * Government Challenges
Researches and provides legal advice and documentation to support applicable company departments for a particular subject matter.
Manages governmental agency and external audit responses.
Provides preventative education and training to management in areas of expertise.
Performs computerized legal research, including statutory and case law. Prepares correspondence, legal memoranda, and written reports to management.
Conducts analysis on a wide-range of legal issues related to the company and provides legal advice to management. Provides preventative education and training to management in areas of expertise.
Provides legal representation for company directly and through outside counsel, through litigation and administrative matters in courts, and before state agencies. Resolves cases prior to trial; selects outside counsel and manages cases that cannot be resolved; tracks and manages costs t! o achieve results that are within budget and that minimize corporate financial and brand exposure. Develops litigation plan, strategy, and work product; and manages claims to successful resolution.
Interfaces with corporate and regional management, outside counsel, opposing counsel, state and federal regulators, attorneys general and their staffs, dealer board executives, judges, mediators and arbitrators, industry experts, and industry counsel.
Performs certain legal tasks in house to reduce cost of legal services at the request of management.
As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
Minimum Requirements:
Job Knowledge and Skill : Subject matter expertise in one or more of the functional areas described above.
Experience : A minimum of eight years legal experience, including experience in relevant practice area or equivalent.
Sophisticated Law Firm exper! ience preferred.
Supervisory Experience : Two or more y! ears providing on-the-job training or supervision of employees.
Education : J.D. degree from a Top ABA accredited law school; active member of bar in state of practice; Ability to gain licensure to TN Bar within 1-year of residency.
Computer Skills : Knowledge of on-line legal research tools. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to produce non-standard, creative products.
