Research law, investigate facts, and prepare documents to assist attorneys

Summarize legal documents

Analyze facts and documents

Determine and calendar deadlines

Perform wide variety of legal research and data compilation

Prepare reports, correspondence, declarations and complaints

Draft a variety of legal documents

Prepare affidavits or documents

Prepare for mediations and trials

Assist Attorneys at trial

Assist Attorney in preparation for depositions

Communicate with witnesses and experts

Scheduling

Enter billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner

Requirements:
Significant paralegal experience in L&E or complex litigation is required. Ability to work collegially is required in this outstanding work atmosphere.

Analytical â€" Able to mine and collect data for cases.

Problem Solving Skills â€" gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

Interpersonal Skills â€" focuses on case/task at hand. Maintains confidentiality.

Communication â€" Listens and gets clarification. Responds to inquiries quickly with professionalism and tact. Writes clearly and informatively. Edits work for errors. Able to read and interpret information accurately and concisely.

Organization skills - keep work area neat and clear of safety hazards, files are maintained neatly and are easily retrieved. Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and handle numerous projects/tasks, sometimes heavy caseloads. Detail oriented.

Teamwork â€" Willing and eager to help others and share knowledge and skills.

Attendance/Punctuality â€" Is consistently at work and on time.

Dependability â€" Follows instructions, responds to management direction. Willing to commit to additional hours when necessary to reach Firm objectives.

Initiative â€" Takes independent actions and proposes ideas for analysis, case strategy and problem solving ; asks for and offers help when needed.

Knowledge - legal terminology and principles.

Computer Skills / Office Equipment

Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw

Proficient in litigation database systems such as Concordance or Summation

Knowledgeable about and able to utilize document management, expense and billing systems.

Able to operate multi-line phone, calculator, blackberry, cell phone, copier, fax, scanner.

Education/Experience:
Prefer Paralegal certification/degree from accredited college or university.

Five or more years of paralegal experience

Prefer prior collective/class action experience
