POSITION SUMMARY: The Distribution Supervisor supervises all warehouse staff assigned to a shift, including assigning daily job tasks. Responsible for all activities performed during the shift inc! luding having deliveries unloaded in order of priority and pro! perly placed in the warehouse and having shipments packed and staged for outbound shipments. Performs a variety of office functions related to shipping and responsible for ensuring all shipments are checked BEFORE bills of lading are signed or before ANY freight is loaded onto the trailer. Performs duties of workers supervised, including packing customer orders. Requires excellent knowledge of the entire warehouse SOPs’, efficient in SAP and other computer operations, and effective written and oral communicate skills.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB :
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates with supervisors of preceding and succeeding shifts to ensure accurate understanding and communication of issues including the carry over of the current status of all incoming/outgoing loads in process.
- Performs all activities of workers supervised, including packing customer orders, completing all necessary shipping documentation, etc.
- Coordinat! es all activities of employees on shift to ensure that all warehouse tasks are accomplished in priority order including the reassignment of employees as necessary to the priority function. Assigns employees tasks, ensuring they understand what is required for each assignment.
- Provide workers with appropriate coaching, training, and tools to perform their jobs successfully. Provides feedback, when necessary, for improvement. Assists workers in resolving problems.
- Ensures that associates are meeting established productivity goals, safely and accurately.
- Ensures that all associates follow standard procedures for completing relocating material, packing orders, preparing load transfer sheet and filling out receivers.
- Ensures the warehouse is clean and pallets put back in location after packing orders and prior to completing the shift, including relocating any damaged cases during the shift. Ensure that employees are caring for their assigned a! reas.
- Ensures that all orders are checked before bills of ladi! ng are signed or before any freight is loaded on to the trailer.
- Manage the drayage trailers using the radio to communicate dock door locations for dropping trailers and for picking up empty trailers.
- Resolve problems as they occur and keep the problem pallet area clean of problems.
- Keep damage area current and clean.
- Motivate the team to understand the necessity of meeting our customer demands and stepping forward to meet those demands. Required to work a flexible work schedule when needed.
- Set an example for others to follow, thereby building a positive image for morale. Must be more motivated than the team by maintaining high personal production and accuracy and by addressing issues that are brought to forward.
- Ensure that problem pallet area is kept current

Physical Demands: Lifting cartons up to 40 lbs. by hand. Drive a sit-down and stand-up forklift and stand up reach truck.
Visual Acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships and bring objects into sharp focus.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Worker exposed to temperatures significantly high or low to cause marked bodily discomfort. Warehouse conditions include temperatures ranging from the 30's (typically 40 degrees in cold weather conditions, with appropriate clothing provided) to the 90's (in hot weather conditions). Estimate time exposure to warehouse condition is 30%.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge: Requires demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to read and understand instructions, write, add and subtract. Must have excellent knowledge of the entire warehouse SOP'! s, and of appropriate forklift regulations and safety rules.
Edu! cation : High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of five to seven years forklift operator experience in a narrow aisle PnP warehouse, including a minimum of one year supervisory experience.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Forklift Truck, Computer and necessary software, phone, copier, fax, and other standard office equipment.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Forklift operator certification.
