Lead Settlement Officer

Responsible for business development in conjunction with Marketing Officer/Operations Officer.
Keep abreast of technology utilized in the settlement industry and make recommendation of changes and upgrades to management as applicable.
Manage settlement staff on a day to day basis.
Hire and train adequate settlement s! taff.
Set production and quality goals and expectations for settlement staff.
Evaluate performance of settlement staff based on established production and quality goals.
Hold regular staff meetings to communicate to settlement staff.
Effectively supervise and train staff members in regard to agency office operations including appropriate telephone, client and office etiquette, underwriting procedures, settlement procedures, closing functions, maintenance of files, and compliance with accounting procedures.
Coordinate daily with Lead Underwriter to allocate staff resources in accordance with needs of the title and settlement groups.
Settlement Services
Understand and comply with ITIC’s settlement and accounting guidelines for all transactions.
Manage and oversee settlement services to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
Work with loan processors, lenders, closer and agency to ensure files are prepared on time.
Perform qua! lity assurance review on files to ensure accuracy.
Impleme! nt appropriate action plans to address deficiencies found during quality assurance review .
Process loan packages received from lending institutions as needed.
Coordinate all aspects of the closing function and attend closings where necessary.
Create and edit settlement statements when needed.
Print checks for disbursement as necessary.
Perform all post closing functions as needed.
Coordinate the hiring, periodic review and termination of settlement services staff.
Develop and oversee an efficient system to coordinate between underwriting and closing.
Document Recording
Coordinate with closing attorney or appropriate personnel for document recording.
Verify checks payable to Clerk's Office are correct.
Deposit funds and cut checks where needed for recording.
Follow up with Clerk's Office or attorney for status of recorded documents as necessary.
Other Duties
Communicate regularly with Marketing/Oper! ations Officer and ITMS Regional Operations Officer regarding work volumes, customer issues and obstacles impacting production.
Special projects assigned by Marketing/Operations Officer and ITMS Regional Operations Officer.
Position Qualifications:
Completion of a four (4) year college degree or equivalent training and experience.
Two (2) years experience in real estate loan closings and settlement operations.
Proven ability to manage people, including 1-3 years of prior supervisory experience.
Analytical ability sufficient to analyze documents recorded in connection with a routine real estate transaction.
Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, organize workload and maintain accurate files.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in person and by telephone.
