ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switchgear in the field, including synch check, point-to-point

2.Support the sales effort by assisting with labor estimates, job walks when necessary and technical aspects of client presentations

3.Phase and ground overcurrent relaying practices in utility and industrial systems, using classic overcurrent relays, reclosers, fuses, and low voltage static trip and thermal magnetic circuit breakers

4.Transmission line protection using stepped distance impedance concepts, communication aided schemes, line differential, and backup ground o! vercurrent schemes

5.Generator protection schemes
6.Protection of transformers, buses, motors, generators, and capacitor banks

7.Develop AC one-lines and three-lines. Develop DC control schematics and associated wiring designs -

8.Arc flash, short circuit and coordination analysis, system modeling using EDSA/Power Analytics and mitigation approaches

9.Configuration and setting of microprocessor-based relays from SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB and Basler Electric

10.Design of medium voltage and high voltage substations

11.Symmetrical component analysis

12.Remain current on all safety and technical training

13.Perform updates to client electrical drawings including one lines, diagrams and schematics

14.Provide technical insight with regard to substation systems and electrical power systems

15.Adhere to all company, industry and client safety protocol and standards

The employee will frequently (34-66% of the workday) be required to sit, wal! k and stand. Occasionally (6-33% of the workday), the employee will be ! required to bend, twist/turn, reach out, lift/carry and push and pull. The employee infrequently (2-5% of the workday) will be required to squat/kneel and climb. The employee is required to infrequently (2-5% of the workday) lift and carry up to 21-50 pounds and will frequently (34-66% of the workday) be required to lift and carry 11 to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to various job site environments. The flooring is mostly concrete, tile or wood. The temperatures at the customer locations can vary between 20-100 degrees. The use of safety equipment can include safety shoes and glasses, hard hat and other job specific personal protective equipment. The noise level of the work environment can vary from low to high (requiring ! hearing protection). Travel requirements will make it necessary to drive a car (day and/or night) and at times fly in an airplane. This position can require up to 80% travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.Experience: Minimum 2-5 years related experience in substations and relay and protection engineering

2.Standards: Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NEMA)

3.Design: Knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation for power systems, substation design and power engineering experience. Knowledge of distribution and transmission design

4.Systems: Proficient in power testing and pwer system analysis software (Doble, Omicron, EDSA/Power Analytics)

5.Reasoning Development: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.

6.Mathematical Development: Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure.

! 7.Language Development: Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
