Location: Cookeville, Tennessee

Description: Tennessee Tech University is in need of Advisor right now, this job will be placed in Tennessee. Further informations about this job opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Reports directly to the Director of the Student Success Center. Primary function is to help increase student retention. Serves as an advisor to the College of Engineering students, and implements retention strategies fo! r students. Uses various data systems to track academic performance and progress of students. Develops advising materials specific to the Center. Uses a variety of computer application packages to aid in the development of databases and statistical reports related to retention and progression. Communicates with students on a regular basis. Complies with the University regulations and academic policies and maintains confidentiality. Other Center activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience with ability to work with statistics, data files, and records; ability to assess and judge meanings of data; knowledge of common software. Experience with students in advising and encouraging development of academic and career goals. Evidence of strong communication skills; written, verbal and in addition, excellent listening skills. Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with faculty, stude! nts, administrators, staff, and public.

Preferred Qua! lifications

Work experience in a university setting. Background in engineering, engineering technology or computer science. Experience working with international college students. Master's degree or course work beyond the bachelor's degree.

Salary

Commensurate with education and experience; Administrtive Pay Grade AD41.

Administrative: Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
