Investigates all events that arise out of the operation of the railroad and other entities on an assigned territory.

Prim! ary Activities and Responsibilities:
Work with injured employees to maximize their recovery
Investigate all events that arise from operation of the railroad and other entities on an assigned territory.
Uses experience gained to support strong culture of safety with respect to the public and employees.
Negotiates and makes recommendations for claim settlements and lawsuits.
Works closely with attorneys in preparing cases for trial and attends trials. Coordinates third party claim management and subrogation of third parties.
Works closely with local operating and public affairs teams, and participates actively in safety committee and public safety efforts
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required in Business, Criminology, Economics, Finance, Transportation, Logistics, or Rail Operations or related major field of study!
1 or more years of experience required in Transportation,! Logistics, Rail Operations, Claim Handling, Legal or related field

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:
HS diploma/GED required
3 or more years of experience required in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Claim Handling, Legal or related field

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Federal Employers Liability Act
Knowledge of Safety Appliance Act
Knowledge of Locomotive Inspection Act
Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations regarding Railroad Safety
Knowledge of Off Track Vehicle Benefit Plan
Knowledge of Railroad Retirement Board disability process
Risk Management database skills
Microsoft Outlook skills
Photography skills
Ability to communicate effectively on all aspects of railroad operations

Job Requirements:
50% travel required.
Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard workweek).
Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, safety vest, and safety glasses.
Basic hours are 8 - 5 Monday to Friday, but must be available to respond when called.
Need to be available to report to work with two-hour advance notice.
Work hours include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be on weekends or outside standard work hours.
On call 24/7 and must respond to accidents involving evacuations, injuries or deaths.
The applicant selected for this position may be! required to successfully complete a background check and physical incl! uding a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.

Environmental Conditions:
Work outside in all weather conditions.
