Location: Memphis, Tennessee

Description: SHELBY COUNTY GOVERNMENT is presently looking of LEGAL INVESTIGATOR right now, this vacancy will be delegated in Tennessee. Works under general supervision to thoroughly investigate all the circumstances involved in assigned criminal cases.

SALARY:
$3,041.00 Monthly

EEOC CODE: 20
GRADE: 47 Minimum Qualifications 1. Five (5) years experience performing work in an investigative field; and
2. Graduation from accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice or a closely related field; or
3. Equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
4. (PROOF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED) Special Requirements 1. Must be eligible to obtain a gun carry permit.
2. Must not have been convicted of any felony offense.
Duties and Responsibilities 1. Interviews defense and prosecuting witnesses.
2. Determines the availability of defense witnesses.
3. Obtains and writes statements of defense and prosecuting witnesses for trial attorneys.
4. Interviews defendant to determine witnesses and case merits.
5. Takes photographs of the crime scene.
6. Preserves evidence compiled from state defense witnesses.
7. Assists attorney in court in tri! al cases.
8. Serves subpoenas.
9. Verifies information! obtained to establish accuracy of facts or evidence.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Extensive knowledge of the law and of court proceedings.
2. Ability to present findings in clear, logical, impartial, and properly documented reports.
3. Knowledge of basic principles and techniques of investigating.
4. Skill in recognizing, collecting, and preserving physical evidence.
5. Ability to evaluate reliability and credibility of statement and witnesses.
6. Ability to locate and communicate with witnesses.
7. Ability to analyze factors involved in the case.
8. Ability to communicate with the public.
