DEPUTY COURT CLERK

Location: Memphis, Tennessee

Description: SHELBY COUNTY GOVERNMENT is currently seeking to employ DEPUTY COURT CLERK right now, this job will be assigned in Tennessee. Duties involve compiling and maintaining operating financial and court recor! ds and documents; providing information to the public and attorneys and judges as well as typing minutes and recording case dispositions.

SALARY:
$2,091.00 Monthly

EEOC CODE: 60
GRADE: 39 Minimum Qualifications 1. Three (3) year’s experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work; and
2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possess GED.
3. (Court-related and computer experience preferred.)
4. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Special Requirements 1. Must be able to work overtime.
2. Must be able to pass a background check if offered the position. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Prepares docket or calendar of cases to be called in assigned courtroom.
2. Examines legal documents submitted to the court for adherence to court or law procedures.
3. Prepares court case folders and posts, files and routes documents.
4. Explains ! procedures or forms to requesting parties.
5. Secures info! rmation for judges, contacts witnesses, attorneys and litigants to obtain information for court and instructs parties when to appear in court.
6. Provides information to various state and county offices as required.
7. Administers oath to witnesses, attorneys and litigants.
8. Records minutes, with the use of a computer or hand written, of court proceedings and prepares same.
9. Records case dispositions and court orders, and arranges for payments of court fees.
10. Enters various court information into computer; editing and deleting same as required.
11. Relives courtroom personnel, within the courtroom, as required.
12. Performs other related duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to maintain an established system of records and files.
2. Ability to work with court officials.
3. Ability to use a personal computer.
4. Ability to write legibly on legal documents and court files.
5. Good communicati! on skills and organizational skills.
